What was the inspiration behind your work/business?
The inspiration behind my work comes from a lifelong commitment to making space innovation accessible and impactful for everyone, no matter their background. From my early days in the U.S. Air Force to my leadership roles in the aerospace industry, I’ve seen firsthand how space technologies drive economic growth, enhance global collaboration, and create pathways to solve some of our most pressing challenges on Earth. Founding SB Global LLC allowed me to extend my mission of bridging the space industry with the broader public, championing opportunities for underrepresented groups, and fostering a global community that benefits from space technology and innovation.

What are you most excited about in your work/business?
I’m incredibly excited about two things right now: the upcoming launch of my book, What’s Space Got To Do With It? 10 Life Lessons for Personal Growth, and the opportunity to share its message through keynote speaking. This book is a culmination of insights from my 35 years in the space industry and lessons learned from over 200 global thought leaders. It captures the universal principles of leadership, resilience, and innovation drawn from space exploration, tailored for anyone striving for personal and professional growth.

Equally thrilling is the chance to bring these ideas to life on stage. Through keynote speaking, I can connect directly with audiences, share the powerful stories behind the book, and inspire people to see space as more than a distant frontier. It’s about using space-driven principles to fuel success here on Earth. Every keynote is an opportunity to spark curiosity, encourage big dreams, and empower people to reach new heights in their own lives. Together, the book launch and speaking engagements enable me to broaden the reach of these ideas and help others unlock their potential.

What has been the most challenging thing about starting your work/business?
The most challenging part of starting SB Global LLC has been navigating the complexities of building a bridge between the specialized world of space and the broader public. Space technology and innovation can often feel distant or exclusive to those outside the industry, so one of my biggest hurdles has been making these concepts accessible and relevant for diverse audiences. It requires continuous efforts to simplify technical insights without losing the depth or potential impact of space technology in everyday life.

Additionally, as a new business focused on advocacy, education, and global partnerships, it’s been a challenge to create meaningful connections across varied sectors—government, industry, and education—that are often siloed. However, these challenges are also opportunities to create a unique platform that brings these groups together. By working through these complexities, SB Global LLC has become a conduit for collaboration, opening doors to new partnerships and making the benefits of space technology more attainable for all.

What advice would you give other women considering starting a work/business?
To any woman thinking about starting a business, my advice is simple: believe in the value of your unique perspective and be bold in sharing it with the world. Starting a business requires resilience, adaptability, and a clear sense of purpose—all qualities that women bring in abundance. Don’t let uncertainty hold you back; every challenge is an opportunity to grow and refine your vision.

Another key piece of advice is to build a network of mentors, allies, and champions who can provide support and guidance. Entrepreneurship can feel isolating, but with the right support, you’ll find strength and inspiration at every stage. Embrace learning, be fearless in the face of obstacles, and, most importantly, stay true to your mission. It allows me to work on projects and partnerships that align with my passion for making space technology accessible and impactful for everyone.

Another rewarding aspect has been connecting with and empowering the next generation of leaders. Through speaking engagements, mentorship programs, and global collaborations, I can inspire others to pursue their dreams and help guide them on their journeys. Seeing the positive impact of my work and potential to shape future innovators has been one of the most gratifying experiences of my career.

The upcoming year has incredible opportunities to connect, inspire, and share insights! I’m thrilled to promote my book, What’s Space Got To Do With It? 10 Life Lessons for Personal Growth, which distills leadership and personal growth principles from my 35-year career in the space industry and insights from over 200 global thought leaders. As the first in a series, this book will soon be followed by What’s Space Got To Do With It? An Interstellar Guide to Success, exploring space-inspired strategies for success across various fields.

I’m also excited to announce a book signing tour across key cities. I’ll be meeting readers, sharing insights from the book, and engaging in discussions about how space-inspired principles can empower growth in all areas of life. Details of the tour locations and dates will be shared soon!

Additionally, I’ll be speaking at DeepFest 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where I’ll dive into the powerful intersections of space, AI, quantum technology, and the future of innovation. This event brings together tech leaders from around the world, and I look forward to exploring how these emerging fields are transforming industries and pushing the boundaries of possibility.

What are your big plans for the future?
Looking ahead, my big plans are all about expanding the transformative reach of space-driven innovation and leadership across industries and communities worldwide. Building on the success of What’s Space Got To Do With It? 10 Life Lessons for Personal Growth, I’m excited to continue the series with upcoming titles like An Interstellar Guide to Success. Each book in the series aims to empower readers with universal leadership principles inspired by the challenges and triumphs of space exploration, designed to help them achieve extraordinary impact, no matter their field.

Beyond the books, I’m dedicated to amplifying the power of space technology and leadership principles through global speaking engagements and immersive workshops. In these events, I’ll explore cutting-edge topics like AI, quantum technology, and space’s role in advancing sustainability, equipping audiences with the insights and tools to navigate our rapidly changing world.

I’m also enthusiastic about collaborating with other global organizations to facilitate programs that inspire and support underrepresented groups, particularly young women pursuing careers in STEM and space. By coordinating mentorship networks, scholarships, and hands-on learning opportunities, I aim to encourage the next generation of leaders to push boundaries and drive progress in space and beyond.

Ultimately, my future plans are about building a more inclusive, innovative, and interconnected world, where space serves as a foundation for achieving both scientific breakthroughs and personal growth. This journey is about expanding what’s possible, inspiring people to think big, and showing how space can act as a catalyst for meaningful change on Earth.
